The hub of our glovemaking operation is a small, flint walled building that was built some 150 years ago to house dairy cows. All around us are pastures. A mile to the south, the green hills of the South Downs separate us from the salt seas of the English Channel.

Almost everything we make is made to order. So that the person who is making your gloves knows exactly what you want in terms of glove size, style and dimensions. They will also know your name and you will know theirs because, when they’ve finished your gloves and they’re completely happy with them, they will sign the tag to say so.

About Merino Wool
Merino wool is absolutely everything that you would want wool to be except 'woolly' and that means that we can make really fine, really soft and really warm gloves in a 'couture' type of fabric. Warm hands have never been so stylish. The wool of the Merino sheep is very fine, so that the yarn spun from it is soft, and it is a 'long fibre' wool, which makes it exceptionally durable. There is no better fabric for gloves. It even has a natural give and take, like leather, which makes for beautifully fitting gloves. These are the 'do anything, go anywhere' gloves. If you're thinking of investing in your first pair of 'proper' gloves, you couldn't pick a better pair and if you already have a drawerful of gloves, you'll wonder how you managed without these. Our Merino wool gloves are the classiest wool gloves around. Cornelia herself introduced this fabric back in the 70s and it's just as relevant now as it was then. That's the mark of a true classic.

Alice | Merino Wool Glove
Touchscreen
We offer our Merino Wool and Cashmere gloves with an optional touchscreen friendly feature. We do this by hand embroidering little stars in silver thread into the thumb and index finger of both gloves.
With touchscreen friendly gloves, the key requirement is for conductivity that will allow the naturally occurring electric charge in your finger to pass through the glove to the screen of your device - and silver is an excellent conductor.
How well does this work?
This is intended to work well for simple interactions with your device - making and receiving calls, playing your favourite podcast. For detailed interactions like sending a text message, you'll want to take your gloves off.
Will this work with my screen protector?
- Please note: this does not work well with some silicone screen protectors
- However this does work well with glass screen protectors

We make our gloves in hand sizes from 6 to 8½. To find your glove size, pass a tape measure around the widest part of your hand - usually over your knuckles, excluding the thumb. The result, in inches, is your glove size. If you are between two sizes, round down to the lower.

How do I guess someone's glove size?
If you are buying gloves for someone and don't know their glove size (and don't want to ruin the surprise), their height can indicate their most likely glove size. Please note, this is statistically most likely but won't be correct 100% of the time.
Applies to women only

Under 5'1" | 6½ |
5'1" to 5'6" | 7 |
5'7" to 5'8" | 7½ |
5'9" to 5'11" | 8 |

Our classic side bow design meets party, party, party. In pure merino wool with a velvet side bow and velvet fourchettes, Alice is perfect for effortlessly dressing up your outfit that little bit more. Wrist length and made by us in Sussex from Australian merino wool.
Dimensions
Wrist Length. Alice is a 2 inch glove. This is measured from where the thumb seam meets the wrist, to the opening of the glove.
Our pure wool gloves are cut from a super fine jersey Merino wool. We make them in exactly the same way that we make all our gloves - 2 metres of painstaking stitching that joins tranks, fourchettes and thumbs. The end product is a pair of gloves that is beautifully styled, built to last and warm. The perfect Autumn/Winter glove.
Care guide
With care, you can gently hand wash these gloves in warm water with pure soap flakes. Gently wash and rinse through repeatedly and avoid any scrubbing. Please allow the gloves to dry naturally - avoid wringing, tumble drying or artificial heat - and when they are still a little damp, pull them back into shape.
